The horrific assault of Girl X

In 1997, a nine-year-old girl was brutally beaten, raped, and left for dead in a stairwell landing of a Chicago public housing apartment building. Miraculously, she survived, but the attack left her blind, mute, and paralyzed. For five years, she was known only as “Girl X.”
